High ceilings, metal frame, open volume: a hangar is not lit like a garage. Drag the handle to see the difference.

Before: a few high spotlights create uneven lighting and many shadowed areas. After: installed under the framework, the LED grid diffuses a powerful and uniform light throughout the workshop.

Before: Despite numerous spotlights, the lighting remains concentrated and leaves shadowed areas between vehicles. After: The hexagonal grid covers the entire ceiling and diffuses powerful, homogeneous light throughout the hangar.

Frequently Asked Questions
High-rise changes three things: density, attachment, and maintenance.
Start with 0.55 hexagons per m², then add 50% as soon as the height exceeds 3 m. For 200 m² under 5 m, that's about 165 hexagons — height is the determining factor, not surface area alone.
Because light diminishes with distance. At 5 m, a frame dimensioned for 2.50 m gives the impression of gloom on the ground, even if the ceiling itself appears well lit.
Always on the supporting structure, never in the sheet metal or in a suspended plate. The fastening material depends on the support: solid concrete, hollow concrete, steel deck, and wooden framework do not require the same anchors.
This is an option when the work area is clearly identified: moving the source 1.50 m closer really improves comfort on the ground. But we always maintain the headroom required for vehicles and machinery to pass.
This should be checked before purchase. A large frame represents a power that may exceed what the existing lighting circuit can handle. In a professional setting, any work on the electrical panel should be carried carried out by an electrician.
It's important to think about this during the design phase. A simple annual cleaning requires a lift or scaffolding: it's better to plan for accessible bays than to discover the problem after installation.
Yes. Any premises open to the public must have independent emergency lighting that takes over in the event of a power outage: an LED array can never serve this purpose. The applicable regulations depend on the type of establishment — have them confirmed by a professional.
An uninsulated shed experiences significant temperature variations and a lot of dust. Observe the indicated mounting distances, and provide an appropriate IP rating in washing areas or areas open to the elements.

The Hexeli Landmark
In a hangar, it's not the surface area that determines the number of panels, but the height. A grid calculated as for a garage gives a feeling of gloom on the ground, even though the ceiling appears well lit.
Three subjects to address before purchasing: density corrected for height, attachment to the actual support, and access for maintenance.
Beyond 3 m, allow for 50% more panels for the same surface area. This is not a luxury: it is what separates a well-lit room from one where you have to guess.
Steel deck, metal frame, suspended panels: we always go back to the supporting structure. The standard screws are not suitable for all types of supports.
When an area is identified—repair bay, sorting plan—a partial lowering of 1 to 1.50 m significantly improves comfort, provided that the headroom for vehicles is maintained.
Annual cleaning recovers a real portion of brightness. At 5 m, it requires equipment: it is better to anticipate it than to give up on it.
| Area | Under 3 m | Beyond 3 m |
|---|---|---|
| 100 sq m | 55 | 83 |
| 1,614.6 sq ft | 83 | 124 |
| 200 sq m | 110 | 165 |
| 3,229 sq ft | 165 | 248 |
| 500 sq m | 275 | 413 |
