Product
What to know before you orderDo I have to assemble the light myself?
Yes, and that's by design: a pre-assembled kit wouldn't fit in any box. But assembly is done entirely by hand. The tubes plug into pin connectors until they click — no tools, no wire stripping, no soldering. Allow 30 to 45 minutes with two people for a 3- to 5-hexagon kit, 1 h 30 for a 14-hexagon kit.
How do you get the 120° angles?
You don't have to measure anything. The V and Y connectors set the angle mechanically: once the tube is pushed in until it clicks, the geometry is right. That's what makes the assembly impossible to get wrong.
How much light does a kit produce?
Efficacy is 120 lumens per watt across the range. In practice:
- 1 hexagon — 36 W, 4,320 lumens
- 2 hexagons — 72 W, 8,640 lumens
- 3 hexagons — 130 W, 15,600 lumens
- 5 hexagons — 215 W, 25,800 lumens
- 14 hexagons — 550 W, 66,000 lumens
For reference, a 36 W workshop fluorescent tube produces about 3,000.
Can the brightness be adjusted?
No, the 6500 K white range is on/off only. That's a deliberate choice: on a workstation, constant light at full power is what you want. If you want to set the mood, look at the RGB range, with adjustable color and brightness.
Does the kit include spare parts?
Large kits ship with spare LED bars — 2 with the 14-hexagon kit. For smaller kits, contact us if needed: the bars are covered by the 5-year warranty and replaced individually, without returning the whole installation.
Are other colors available?
The 6500 K cool white range is available with a white, blue, green or red frame on the 14-hexagon model — pick it directly on the product page. For controllable color, the RGB range lets you change shade and create gradients.
Can I create my own layout?
Yes. The whole range shares the same tubes and the same connectors. The 3-hexagon kit can be built as a triangle, a line or a column. Larger kits can be extended with Ø 1 m satellite modules, or combined with each other. Nothing is fixed: you can rearrange after a move.
What is the lifespan of the LEDs?
50,000 hours. At three hours of use a day, that's more than forty years. Every kit is covered by the 5-year Hexeli warranty.
Does it use a lot of power?
For the same light output, an LED installation uses about 60% less than conventional fluorescent lighting. The 14-hexagon kit draws 550 W, about 2.4 amps at 230 V — less than a space heater, for 66,000 lumens.
Are the products certified?
Yes: CE marking, RoHS compliance, and IP54 ingress protection rating per EN 60529. The EU declaration of conformity is available on request at support@hexeli.com.
Installation
Mounting the kit, with no surprisesDo I need an electrician?
For assembly, no: tubes, connectors and mounting are all done by hand. Only the final connection of the mains cable — live, neutral, earth — requires knowing what you're doing.
If you're not comfortable identifying live / neutral / earth, have an electrician handle that single step. It's a half-hour job.
Do I need a transformer or an external driver?
No. The power supply is built into the tubes, running directly on 230 V. Nothing to add, nothing to hide in a false ceiling, no box visible from the floor.
At what height should the kit be installed?
Direct ceiling mounting works perfectly between 2.50 m and 3.50 m. Above that, the light moves away from the work surface: use cable suspension, which lets you lower the kit to the desired height and adjust it cable by cable.
Will it hold on drywall or a false ceiling?
On drywall, yes, with suitable anchors such as Molly-type fixings. The load is light and spread across all the connectors, which act as mounting points.
On a suspended false ceiling, prefer anchoring to the supporting structure, or cable suspension fixed to the slab.
How many power cables do I need?
A single power point is enough for a standard kit: current flows from one tube to the next through the connectors. Large kits ship with two cables, so you can feed power from two points if your electrical supply requires it or if you extend the installation.
How long does assembly take?
30 to 45 minutes with two people for a 3- to 5-hexagon kit, excluding the electrical connection. Allow 1 h 30 to 2 h for a 14-hexagon kit — most of the time goes into marking out and mounting, not assembly.
One bar won't light up, what should I do?
Switch off the power, unplug the connector in question and push it back in firmly until it clicks. In the vast majority of cases that's the cause — a pin not fully seated.
If the bar stays off, contact us: it's covered by the 5-year warranty and replaced without returning the whole unit.
Can I install it outdoors?
Under cover only. The IP54 rating protects against splashes and dust, not direct exposure to the weather. A canopy, an enclosed carport or an open bay are fine; an uncovered patio is not.
Orders & shipping
Dispatch, shipping costs and trackingHow long does delivery take?
Orders placed before 12 pm CET (Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays) are dispatched the same day. After 12 pm, at the weekend or on a public holiday, they ship the next business day.
Transit times then vary by destination. The estimated delivery date is also shown on each product page and at checkout.
Which countries do you ship to?
The available shipping destinations are shown at checkout.
How much is shipping?
Shipping is free on eligible orders. Otherwise, shipping costs are calculated at checkout, whatever the number of items.
Where do orders ship from?
Hexeli is based in Paris. Orders are prepared and shipped by our partner logistics warehouses, with a tracking number for every parcel.
How do I track my order?
An email with your tracking number is sent as soon as your order ships. Remember to check your spam folder. If you haven't received it within a few days, email us at support@hexeli.com.
My order arrived in several parcels, is that normal?
Yes. Depending on their size and origin warehouse, some items travel separately. The rest of your order usually arrives within the following days.
My parcel shows as delivered but I haven't received it.
Carriers sometimes record the delivery before the actual handover. Check with neighbors or the building manager, wait 24 to 72 hours, then contact us if the parcel is still missing — we'll open an investigation with the carrier.
I received a damaged parcel.
Photograph the parcel and the product, note the damage with the carrier if you can, and contact us promptly at support@hexeli.com with your order number. We'll take it from there.
Warranty & returns
What happens if something goes wrongHow long is the warranty?
5 years on the entire Hexeli range, white and RGB alike. It covers manufacturing defects, LED bar failures and power supply failures under normal use.
Not covered: damage caused by improper installation, opening the tubes, direct exposure to the weather or a mains surge. This warranty is in addition to your statutory consumer rights.
Can I return a product?
You have 30 days from delivery to request a return. The product must be new, unassembled, in its original packaging and show no signs of use.
Contact us before sending anything back at support@hexeli.com: we'll give you the return address and procedure.
Who pays for return shipping?
If you change your mind, return shipping is at your expense. If the product is defective, damaged or not as ordered, we cover the cost once the claim is approved.
Can I exchange an item?
Yes, under the same conditions as a return. Email us with your order number and the model you want, and we'll arrange the exchange.
How long does a refund take?
Within 14 days at most of receiving and checking the returned product, to the original payment method. Depending on your bank, it may take a few more days to show on your account.
